Our Beliefs

At Sammamish Hills an ELCA congregation, we confess the Triune God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. In our preaching and teaching the ELCA trusts the Gospel as the power of God for the salvation of all who believe.

Our History

Sammamish Hills Lutheran Church began as a mission congregation in September 1978 at the Pine Lake Community Club with Rev. Norman Orth as founding pastor. Along with thirty faithful believers, Sammamish Hills began to spread the Word.

Sammamish Hills is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).

With more than 10,000 congregations across the U.S., Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, and 4.2 million members—the ELCA helps us celebrate our gift of faith—with action.

We are a part of the Northwest Washington Synod. Within the ELCA, a synod is also an administrative and missional geographic region, overseen by a bishop who provides direction to staff, a synod council, and volunteers from its congregations for vision, support, and resources to carry out mission and ministry.
