David Schoeld
David Schoeld was born into a pastors’ family. As such, he was blessed to grow up in multiple locations (Carrington, ND and Albert Lea, MN) before graduating high school in Miles City, MT. He attended St. Olaf, graduated in 1990 with a degree in economics/finance, and immediately put that to good use as a youth director. Following two years in youth ministry, David worked at home improvement stores until 1996 when he followed his wife into the ministry of word and sacrament by enrolling at Luther Seminary.
David served St. Luke’s Lutheran in Long Beach, CA, for his internship; completed his chaplaincy at Swedish Hospital in Seattle; and he graduated from seminary and was ordained in December of 2000.
David’s first call was to Christ Lutheran in Downey, CA, before accepting a call to First Lutheran in Brookings, SD, in the Spring of 2003.
David has served on the board of the Brookings Domestic Abuse Shelter, the South Dakota Synod Support to Ministries Committee, and the Brookings Ministerial Association.
