Doug Johnson
I was born and raised in Southern California, always living closer to the desert and mountains than the beach and ocean, and the mountains are my home. I always feel closer to God when I am close to (or on top of) a mountain. Most of my family still lives in Southern California, including my parents and sister, and it is always a blessing to go and visit. I attended California Lutheran University and majored in religious studies.
After undergrad, I attended Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN, where I earned both my Masters of Divinity and my Masters of Theology. While I was in seminary, I did my year-long internship in Vancouver, WA, where I first fell in love with the PNW and Washington State. After seminary I ended up living a bit of a nomadic life living in Michigan, California, and Florida before settling back here in WA when I began my position at Saint Andrew’s in August of 2020.
In my free-time I have found that I have collected a large number of hobbies. I love spending time outdoors, whether it is camping, hiking, biking, ultimate Frisbee, soccer, fishing, or going for a walk. This is especially true here in Washington, where we have an abundance of nature (and mountains) to explore. I also love playing games! Card games, board games, table top games, video games, puzzles, you name it I will play in the last few years I have found that I enjoy painting as well, although this is truly a hobby and nothing I have training or skill, it is purely for the enjoyment.
