Children's Ministries
at Sammamish Hills Lutheran Church

Director of Children's Ministries

Sammamish Lutheran Church offers programming to children from birth through fifth grade.  Each of our programs are designed to build up children's faith and relationship with God, to connect children and families into relationship with one another, and to offer opportunities of service  to our local community.

Children's Ministry Mission: We believe that parents are the primary role models for their children’s upbringing in the Christian faith. Our mission is to support parents in this endeavor by giving them the tools and encouragement they need to raise children in the Christian Faith.

Sunday Mornings: Gearing Up for the 2010-2011 Sunday School Year!

In a few short weeks we will be starting our new Sunday School year. We will continue with Faithinkubator’s Bible Song curriculum. This year we move into the New Testament with the next book titled “The Good News!”

Look for registration information coming out the end of this month. We look forward to having you join us as a volunteer!

Nursery:

Our nursery is open each Sunday morning during the 9:00 & 10:30 a.m. services in the lower level of the Sanctuary. We welcome children ages birth-2 years. Please contact Karen Harmon Karen@shlc.org if you would like more information or would like to volunteer.

Wednesday Mornings: Toddler Time - Meets through the summer:  Join us for play time for children birth to five-years-of-age and their caregivers. We meet each Wednesday from 9:30-11:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Meet other moms and caregivers while your child has a great time playing with the ride-on cars, tunnels, roller coaster and other toys! Admission is $1 per child. On sunny days, we'll meet on the playground!

The Faith 5: Every Night in Every Home

  • Share…your highs & lows of the day
  • Pray….for each other and the world
  • Read…a story/scripture from the Bible
  • Talk…about how this story connects to your highs & lows
  • Bless…each other

  • Infants: (Bless) You can begin the Faith 5 even at this young age by blessing your baby each night.
  • Toddlers: (Bless & Pray) Begin to teach them to pray with simple prayers that you repeat each night.
  • Preschoolers: (Bless, Pray & Share) Begin to share your highs & lows together. “What made you happy today? “What made you sad?”
  • Early elementary: (Bless, Pray, Share & Read) Share a story from the Bible together as part of your nightly routine.
  • Upper Elementary: (Bless, Pray, Share & Talk) At this age your children are ready to talk about the Bible story you read, help them connect how the story relates to their life and their highs & lows.

Join Our Team! Volunteer Opportunities: Our Sunday School and Children’s Ministry programs are possible because of the helping hands of many volunteers. As a parent, we ask for your participation in our program. We welcome any interested volunteers, even if you don’t have kids in the program, to help.

Assisting with Sunday school will not only help you teach your children the value and importance of learning and applying the scriptures, but is also a wonderful blessing to others. Contact Karen Harmon (karen@shlc.org) to volunteer!
